DAY 1: CASABLANCA
Welcome to Morocco! Begin your Morocco itinerary 13 days when you arrive at Casablanca Airport and are welcomed to fascinating Morocco by your driver and transferred to Casablanca’s main attraction is the relatively modern and monumental Hassan II Mosque. Inaugurated in 1993, it sits on an outcrop jutting into the Atlantic and offers beautiful views. It has a 690-foot (210 m) minaret—the tallest structure in Morocco and the tallest minaret in the world. What makes this mosque different is that it’s one of the few mosques in the country where non-Muslims are permitted to enter. DAY 2: CASABLANCA - RABAT - Rif Mountains - Chefchaouen
Today your Morocco itinerary 13 days really get underway. Head to the present-day capital city of Rabat. Visit the Bab Oudaia gate and the Kasbah des Oudaias, a 12th-century fortification built during the Almohad reign. Next, visit the Hassan Tower, a minaret of the incomplete mosque, and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V. Then travel to the blue town Chefchaouen situated in the heart of Rif Mountains.
Arrive in charming blue city Chefchaouen. This town offers a relaxed atmosphere and is known for its blue and white washed buildings in its historic medina and Kasbah (old town). Explore its narrow alleyways which cling to the hillside of the Rif mountains. Explore Outa el-Hammam Plaza, the main square named for the number of traditional hammams (public baths) which used to encircle the square. Stop along the way at the UNESCO world heritage site protected Volubilis ruins—the Romans farthest reach in the african continent. Discover the ancient ruins which include some marvellous mosaics before continuing on to imperial city of Meknes. Exploring this 17th century imperial capital you find Agdal Basin, Heri es-Souani (old granaries) and the old city’s famous massive gate of Bab el Mansour, the main entrance to the second Alaouite sultan, Moulay Ismail’s 17th century city. Continue your journey on to the second imperial city, Fez. With its impressively large old medina, In Fez you experience a true Moroccan delight staying one of the gorgeous Fes riads. DAY 4: EXPLORING FES
Meet your guide at the Riad at 9:30AM for full-day city tour of Fez, one of Morocco’s oldest imperial cities. Visit the UNESCO world heritage old walled medina, historical monuments (including Madrasa Bou Inania, the Kairaouine Mosque and Mihrab), famous leather tanneries, bazaars and souks (such as Souk Ain Allou (leather), Souk Attarine (spices), Souk au Henne (henna and kohl), Fes el Jdid, the exterior of Dar el Makhzen (Royal Palace) including the enormous Merenid gate of Bab Dekakene, formerly the main entrance of the royal palace, Mellah (the old Jewish Quarter) and enjoy the panoramic view of Fez from the late 16th century Borj Sud fortress. DAY 5: FES - MIDDLE ATLAS MOUNTAINS - IFRANE - MIDELT - ZIZ VALLEY AND GORGE - MERZOUGA DESERT
Today your 13 day Morocco itinerary travels via Ifrane, Azrou and Midelt south to Merzouga. Passing cedar and pine forests, the route from Ifrane past Azrou crosses through the Middle Atlas Mountains and is one of the most scenic routes across this mountain range. Continuing on to Midelt you begin the climb into the Eastern High Atlas Mountains before descending along the road following the valley carved by the Ziz River into the fabulous Morocco desert. Here you can enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful Ziz Gorge with its vast date palm groves. Making your way through the vast Tafilalt Oasis area you arrive to the desert Berber village of Merzouga and Morocco’s spectacular Sahara Desert sand dunes, the beautiful Erg Chebbi dunes. DAY 6: EXPLORING SAHARA DESERT
Today you will discover the authentic desert tribes and nomadic lifestyle on a an off-road safari with 4×4 Jeep, your sahara desert adventure will start by visiting a oasis right in the middle of the the desert, with its luch palm groves learning about local farming life. Then continue to Khamlia village where you will admire the Gnawa music, visit nomadic or the bedouins tribes, mines of desert fossils. In the late afternoon you are taken by 4-wheel drive vehicle to your Morocco desert luxury camp located in the Erg Chebbi dunes. Here you can take a camel ride into the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert to watch the sun setting over the desert or relax at your camp. DAY 7: MERZOUGA - TODRA GORGE - DADES VALLEY - VALLEY OF ROSES - SKOURA OASIS - OUARZAZATE
You can rise early to watch the sunrise over the sand dunes of the Moroccan desert. Departing the Erg Chebbi area after breakfast, you can visit the fossil area around Erfoud, some of Morocco’s rich fossil fields and quarries are found in this area. Your adventure now turns to the west toward Tingehir. Arriving to the Todra Valley you trace the path of the Todra River through the lush Todra oasis to the beautiful Todra Gorge. Continuing westward your Morocco travels you pass via the Berber town of Boumalne Dades to join Dades Valley and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. Ouarzazate has long attracted attention and interest, including by a Pasha who built magnificent kasbahs here, the French who established a garrison for the French Foreign Legion here during their colonial rule period and most recently this lush oasis town’s spectacular location nestled between the High Atlas Mountains and Anti-Atlas ‘ Jbel Saghro Mountains has made it the movie making capital of Morocco. Ait Benhaddou has some of the Atlas region’s most exotic and best preserved Kasbahs. Saying farewell to the desert of Morocco you begin your crossing of the western region of the soaring High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. DAY 12: DAY TRIP TO ESSAOUIRA
Your day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech involves a drive of 2 hours 50 minutes from Marrakech to this beautiful old coastal small town. Your driver will pick up you from your hotel in Marrakech at 8.00 a.m. and make your way across the stunning landscapes of the Argan forest. Along the way you may stop to see goats clamb up the low branches and feed of the argan trees. It is a spectacular sight, and an absolute must when it comes to taking photos opportunity.
Your trip to Essaouira from Marrakech arrives at around 11 am in the resort and port of the vibrant old town (medina) Essaouira is a UNESCO world heritage site. Explore Essaouira with local city guide, visit historical sites, souks, old Medina, Mellah jewish quarter, Harbor, and Place Moulay Hassan, enjoy a delicious seafood in local restaurant. Return to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
